FIELD NOTES / OCTOBER 2026
Discovery is the start.
Decisions are the product.
The market is already moving.
IAB reports $37 billion in U.S. creator advertising spend in 2025 and projects $44 billion in 2026. That is a market forecast, not revenue available to this product. Source: IAB, April 2026 ↗
CreatorIQ’s September 2026 survey reports systems integration as the leading roadblock for brands at 27%, with coordination and measurement at 26% each. Its results are vendor-sponsored and reflect surveyed marketers. Source: CreatorIQ / Sapio Research ↗
Search alone isn’t a moat.
Modash already offers natural-language and visual creator discovery, audience data, and connected campaign workflows. We are not positioning a smaller directory as a better version of its data network. Our opening is an accessible, evidence-first casting experience that gets a useful brief and shortlist out the door quickly. Source: Modash product documentation ↗
What the Agentic 20 taught us.
Our reading of Forbes’ Agentic 20 is that valuable agent products organize around completed jobs, constrained domains, and visible execution. Known’s explained introductions informed brief-to-match reasoning; Wajo’s human handoff informed unresolved-data prompts; persistent workspaces informed saved campaigns. We apply these as design patterns, not claims that this edition has those companies’ autonomous capabilities. Source: Forbes, October 8, 2026 ↗
Browserbase’s inspectable sessions reinforce a separate principle: show the work behind automation. Our matching receipt displays the rule, topic overlap, and source for each result. Source: Browserbase ↗
Our 6–12 month thesis.
This is a product hypothesis, not a market prediction: more discovery will become conversational, while verified availability, usage rights, creative fit, and observed campaign results will become more valuable. We expect a lasting advantage to come from permissioned evidence and successful collaborations, rather than the number of names in a database.
| Now: working | Next: validate |
|---|---|
| Sourced creator profiles | Creator-claimed profiles and current terms |
| Explainable topic matching | Feedback-calibrated creative fit |
| Saved casting decisions and client presentations | Agency collaboration and approvals |
| Budget scenarios and results log | Permissioned outcome integrations |
What we need to prove.
Time from brief to approved shortlist. Shortlist-to-conversation rate. Repeat agency use. Creator acceptance. Campaign outcomes with consistent attribution. These are the tests for the business, not invented launch metrics.
